Right, here we go again with yet another of these very fundamental Holy Scriptural concepts that gets skewed, twisted, perverted and moulded into all manner of blathering whacky theories in order to satiate the puffed up vanities of the false teachers within mainstream Christianity i.e. those silly religious creatures of the Cainite-Judeo-Christian Religion.
Why are you so scathing I hear you ask? I am scathing because Baptism and the gifting of The Holy Spirit is THE most important event a believer will ever go through and the last thing a newbie to The Faith needs, at this crucial stage of their Spiritual development and walk with Yashua Messiah, is some vain glorious religious clown feeding and/or misleading them with a load of blasphemous and erroneous religious gobbledegook and nonsense. Someone new to The Faith, or coming to The Faith, needs to hear only one thing – The Truth – plain, undiluted and simple with no lying nonsensical embellishments or crazy mythical ideas leading them down a blind alley to destruction (Spiritual ruin).
Here is an example of their skewed erroneous ideas and this is from a blog called “Spirit of the Lord God blogspot – Holy Fire Baptism.” Let’s also be clear, for this individual is not alone with these particular silly beliefs, he is one of many and I am just using his blog to make the point. Here is the opening sentence:
“I was first introduced to the holy fire baptism through a book by brother Yong-Doo Kim, called Baptize by Blazing Fire.”
Here we can see, straight away, the gross error(s) revealed with the use of the fabricated terms – “Holy Fire Baptism” and “Baptize by Blazing Fire.” We could easily add the fabricated slogan “The Holy Trinity” as that would sit comfortably with the other two slogans and as equally meaningless. All the above terms are NOT Holy Scriptural terms at all, they’re all religious fake constructs. Nowhere in the Holy Scriptures does it mention the term ‘Holy Fire’ or ‘Holy Fire Baptism’ or for that matter ‘Holy Trinity’.
So, “Holy Fire Baptism”, what exactly is that? Did a ‘Holy Fire’ Baptism ever take place? No is the answer to that. All baptisms were and are baptisms of WATER AND THEN the gifting of The Holy Spirit by the laying on of hands upon the head of the recipient. Once that has occurred you have been baptised with water and The Holy Spirit which is accompanied with fire, although not seen. This arrangement is like a peach or plum with a stone, you cannot have one without the other. Once you are baptised with water and the gifting of The Holy Spirit, the fire comes with it automatically, and John the Baptist makes it all very clear:
Matthew 3:11 (KJV) I indeed baptise you with water unto repentance: but He that cometh after me is mightier than I, whose shoes I am not worthy to bear: He shall baptise you with The Holy [Ghost] Spirit, and [with] fire. (All brackets mine)
Luke 3:16 (KJV) John answered, saying unto them all, I indeed baptise you with water; but one mightier than I cometh, the latchet of whose shoes I am not worthy to unloose: He shall baptise you with The Holy [Ghost] Spirit and [with] fire. (All brackets mine)
I have enclosed the word ‘with’ in square brackets as they are italicised additions in the KJV. The KJV also uses the erroneous archaic term ‘Ghost’ when describing the Holy Spirit so, likewise, I have enclosed them in square brackets.
Hey you can’t be saying that when the Messengers (Apostles) had cloven tongues of fire descend upon them in the upper room. That proves that there is such a thing as baptism of fire, doesn’t it? No, all it proves is that up until that point in time the Learners (Disciples) had only received John’s water baptism and in order to become fully born of God they had to receive the gift of The Holy Spirit and being the FIRST RECIPIENTS of this miraculous gift it had to be both felt and seen so that they were fully aware something incredible had happened. More importantly, and usually over-read, we need to realise that the sound of a rushing mighty wind was heard first which filled the whole house and then the cloven tongues of fire appeared afterwards. Strange how very few people focus on that part of the event giving ALL their infantile sensationalist agenda based attention to the tongues of fire.
Acts 2:2-3 (KJV) And suddenly there came a sound from heaven as of a rushing mighty wind, and it filled all the house where they were sitting. 3 And there appeared unto them cloven tongues like as of fire, and it sat upon each of them. (Emphasis mine).
The Holy Spirit being referred to as a wind is a constant throughout The Holy Scriptures. Here are two examples, one from the Old Testament and one from the New Testament:
Genesis 1:2 (KJV) And the earth was without form, and void; and darkness was upon the face of the deep. And The Spirit of God moved upon the face of the waters. (Emphasis mine)
The Hebrew word here for Spirit is ‘ruach’ pronounced ‘roo’-akh’ which means a wind or a breath by exhalation.
In the New Testament we have:
John 3:5 (KJV) Jesus answered, Verily, verily, I say unto thee, Except a man be born of water and of The Spirit, he cannot enter into The Kingdom of God.
Furthermore, if we look up the Greek word for Spirit we find that it’s translated from the word ‘pneuma’ and from Strong’s we get this:
Spirit – G4151 – pneuma – pnyoo’-mah – From G4154; a current of air, that is, breath (blast) or a breeze;
Spirit – G4154 – pneo – pneh’-o – A primary word; to breathe hard, that is, breeze: – blow. Compare G5594.
Here we can plainly see that The Holy Spirit of God is primarily a wind or a breath of air not a fire and yet we are to receive a fiery element with our baptism as graphically portrayed to the original 12 Learners (Disciples). So what does this fire represent?
Well according to some it means a third baptism of fire!!! But what does Yashua Messiah have to say on the matter?
Luke 12:49-50 (KJV) I am come to send fire on the earth; and what will I, if it be already kindled? 50 But I have a baptism to be baptised with; and how am I straitened till it be accomplished!
OK, here’s a better translation:
Luke 12:49-50 (Aramaic Translation) I have come to set fire to the earth, and I only wish it were already burning. 50 I have a baptism with which to be baptised, and I am much afflicted until it is fulfilled.
So what do we make of Yashua Messiah’s words? For nowhere does He mention a third Baptism or that there would be special benefits from a mythical third baptism of fire – Scripturally there is no such thing and yet He says He has come to SET FIRE to the earth. Not only that but that He wished it was already kindled and aflame right there and then in the first century. What did He mean by this statement? Easy, He explains in the following verses which our ‘third baptism of fire’ people read over and ignore. Let’s quote them here:
Luke 12:51-53 (KJV) Suppose ye that I am come to give peace on earth? I tell you, Nay; but rather division: 52 For from henceforth there shall be five in one house divided, three against two, and two against three. 53 The father shall be divided against the son, and the son against the father; the mother against the daughter, and the daughter against the mother; the mother in law against her daughter in law, and the daughter in law against her mother in law.
So here we can see that FIRE IN ACTION sowing discord and division, father against son and mother against daughter etc. etc.. Not peace, but rancour and open hostility one toward another and all this within the environs of family. How much more between other members of our community? This my friends is the FIRE that we baptised with along with other trials as Peter confirms for us:
1 Peter 1:7 (KJV) That the trial of your faith, being much more precious than of gold that perisheth, though it be tried with fire, might be found unto praise and honour and glory at the appearing of Jesus Christ: (Emphasis mine)
The trial of our Faith, though it be tried with fire = severe testing of our endurance. Here again we can see what our baptisms of fire are all about, not some mythical third birthing so that we can lay on the floor and bark like dogs as they do in Charismatic fake ‘baptism of fire’ circles, amongst other whacky things.
If you’re in any doubt let us return again to Yashua Messiah’s words once more, but from the New Living Translation this time:
Luke 12: 50 (NLT) I have a terrible baptism of suffering ahead of me, and I am under a heavy burden until it is accomplished.
Here above is the baptism of fire that Yashua Messiah went through and although we will not go through anything as severe as He went through we will still be tested and tried with a BAPTISM OF FIRE.
Moreover this brings us to those cloven tongues of fire that came and settled upon The Twelve Learners (Disciples) in the upper room:
What was that all about? The very same as already described by Yashua Messiah – a baptism of fire. The Learners were to be tested with fiery trials and the tongues of fire were an outward sign of what was to befall them later in life. One thing is for sure, they did not receive a third baptism.
Now by this stage you may be thinking, boy this sounds pretty frightening and scary who can stand such fiery testing? Answer, you can, once born of God and gifted with The Holy Spirit. Without The Holy Spirit no way, but with The Holy Spirit every time, so do not fear.
